5 STORY IDEAS FOR YOUR PRODUCT BASED BUSINESS

Let’s talk about Instagram stories!

Believe it or not, posting on your stories is SUPER vital not only for growing your account, but also to build connection. People are actually more likely to see your story then they are to see your post and read your captions! Stories are placed at the TOP of people’s feeds, and every time you post you’re bumped to the front of the line! Not only that, but stories allow you to link products, tell stories, and show off parts of your life and business that you can’t put in your posts.

Now you may be thinking, “That sounds great Meghan, but what do I post??” Well you’re in luck because today I’ll be giving you 5 story ideas you can start putting into practice every day!

1. Show off a product!

If you have an Instagram shop (I’ll talk more about this in another post), you actually can link products directly in your stories! This allows you to show off your product and giving your viewers a change to check it out right then and there! But even if you don’t have this feature, it is still a great idea to post about your products. You can make a video telling about it and verbally selling it. You can post a photo of it with a review saying how much a client loved it! When something is brought to the attention of your followers like this, they are naturally more likely to look at it and even purchase it!

2. Behind the scenes.

Brings your followers behind the scenes of your business! Show your designing process, or the way you package them for shipping! This draws them in not only to the product but allows them to see the hard work and quality you insure. Draw them in and build a connection beyond just the products you’re selling.

3. Invite interaction!

Ask a question, do a poll, or even a slider! If you provide prompts and make it easy for your followers to interact, they will be much more likely to respond to the queues and notice your story. This also is a great way to get feedback on a product, or and idea and makes them feel included and important.

4. Tell about YOUR life!

If you’ve read any of my posts about business, you know I’m all about showing YOU in your business. Inviting people into your life and who you are as a person builds a vital connection with each of your followers. If they feel like they know you, they will want to buy from you! They’ll see you working your butt off to run this business and they’ll see you carefully creating each product. This can be as detailed or as vague as you like, you don’t have to blast every single detail of your life all over. You could show them a day in your life, or bring them along a family activity! People are drawn to relatable, relevant content that isn’t overly stiff and businessy.

5. Just talk!

Let people see your face! Pretend like you’re facetiming your best friend and just talk! Tell a story, explain the mission behind your business, or tell them about a new product! When people can HEAR you talk and SEE what you look like, your story will feel so much more personal. And I KNOW this is scary, and you’re gonna feel real frickin weird starting out, but trust me it gets way easier.
